The doctors often advise to stay away from sweets, but they are not always unhealthy if you control the amount of sugar. Gulab jamun is such a common sweet that is available in Pakistan on every sweet shop as well as in baker stores.

If you are diabetic or have an excessive weight, you can add less sugar while making gulab jamun.

You need paneer, flour, dry milk, and a little baking powder for developing the gulab jamun balls. You need maple syrup to make gulab jamun recipe for dipping the gulab jamun to make them sugary.

You cannot mix sugar in the dough because it will break while frying. The professional cooks fry gulab jamun in ghee but we all know that is not healthy.

Take a can of aliz olive oil to make all your recipes because it will cost you less and will not affect your health. You can use the light Pomace aliz olive oil because it is not bitter and good for sweets.

Things To Add

For Dough

Flour or suji: 100 gm.

Paneer or cottage cheese: 125gm.

Dry milk: 2 tbsp.

Khoya: 125 gm.

Baking soda: ¼ tsp.

For Maple Syrup

Cup water: 2 cup

Sugar: 1 cup or to taste

Cardamom or illachi: 3 to 4

Shredded Pistachio: 1 tbsp.

Shredded Coconut: 1 tbsp.

Aliz olive oil: 2 cups or more for shallow fry

 How To Prepare

  1. Make the dough by mixing the dough ingredients with a little water. Make it hard and leave it for a few minutes to set.

  2. Take a pan, add water, and heat it a little, add sugar, add cardamom seeds and let all boil. When the syrup gets a medium consistency, remove the pan from the stove.

  3. Transfer the maple syrup in a bowl.

  4. Take a wok, add aliz olive oil, and heat it at high heat.

  5. Add balls and fry them at low heat, until they get dark brown. You can add the balls according to the size of your pan.

  6. Take out gulab jamun from the pan and dip in maple syrup.

  7. Serve them with syrup or transfer them in a platter. Garnish with pistachio or coconut if you want.

  8. You can serve hot or cold as you like.
